Sing-around Afternoon
At Congregation Kol Ami, 1008 W. Water St. Elmira, NY
Come join us for an afternoon of singing at Congregation Kol Ami. There may be folk-rock songs we all know from the 1960’s and 1970’s folk revival or any folk songs you know. Bring songs with a chorus so we all can join in! Rabbi Tom Samuels, who knows a lot of Canadian songs ( Gordon Lightfoot, Stan Rogers, etc), and our own Charles Fontana from the pre-concert jam sessions will both have guitars ready to play, Debra Chesman will have some unaccompanied songs ready (pub songs, seas chanteys) and of course you are invited to bring songs and join in on your folk instruments and with your voices. Bring lyrics if you need a cheat sheet or lead songs you have memorized. We will have a few folk song books to help jog your memory.
There will be some nosh—light snacks, like crackers & cheese or veggies & dip, maybe a dessert or fruit and warm beverages—that will be provided by the JCF.
RSVP's would be helpful so we can have some idea how many seats and how much food, but just come anyway—we will have space.
This event is free and sponsored by Valley Folk Music Society and the JCF of Elmira, at Congregation Kol Ami, 1008 W. Water Street, Elmira NY. Parking and entrance in the back parking lot accessible from Cobbles East or Cobbles West which both run between W. Water Street and Church streets in Elmira.
