Valley Folk's "Re-Frame” concert featuring
Joe Crookston's
music and visual art
Concert at 144 Cedar Street, Corning
In the red-brick UM Church--door on First St.
Hailing from Ithaca NY, Joe Crookston returns to reopen the Valley Folk Music Society Concert Series after a long pause. Joe is bringing his fiddle, his slide, old favorites, new songs & stories, foot-stomping rhythms and infectious joy to Valley Folk. Come out and be part of this Sunday afternoon pure music magic.
Songwriter, guitarist, painter, fiddler, slide player, and believer in all things possible, Joe Crookston was named 2016 Folk Alliance International Artist-in-Resident. He’s played with Suzanne Vega, Dar Williams, David Francey, John McCutcheon, John Gorka, Judy Collins and 100’s more. His songs are universal, his rhythm infectious, and his concerts are humorous one moment and transcendent the next. Whether he’s picking his 48 Gibson, weaving through lap slide songs or looping his fiddle, Joe will draw you in. With unwavering courage to be himself, he is literate, poignant and funny as hell.
Joe's original artwork will be on display at the concert, making this an extra special event for us to have music, paintings and sculpture. His artwork has been shown at various venues including at the True North Gallery in Waterdown, Ontario. His paintings were installed in the gallery alongside paintings by other musicians, including Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan, and Janis Joplin.
